You know you’re in good hands when you visit your physiotherapist and she turns out to be a world-class athlete. That’s the case for those who frequent Grafton Physio + Sport for an appointment with 25-year-old Celia Sullohern.

Celia was selected for the Australian team to compete at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in both the 5,000 and 10,000 metres, having won national titles at both distances.

“Celia is doing us all so proud,” says founder and principal Jane-Anne Burns.

“We have run out of superlatives for her, she is such a dedicated athlete. We may have to clear the diary so we can all watch her.”

Grafton Physio + Sport provides up-to-date, research-based and accessible solutions or management options for injuries and health problems.

“Ours is a friendly and professional service where our clinicians hear your story and help you figure out how best to help fix or treat the problem,” says Jane-Anne. “And if we don’t know the answer, or if you need more help, we make sure you get what you need elsewhere. Our approach takes into account your overall wellbeing.”

The practice offers a number of specialist services including men’s and women’s health and chronic pain management, as well as free Tai-Chi at Grafton High School every Friday morning, one of several ways in which Grafton Physio + Sport involves itself in a community that has taken the business to its heart.

“What a strong and humbling vehicle word of mouth is in a country town,” says Jane-Anne, who herself is a keen participant in a variety of sports in her community.

“In a regional town like Grafton, people recognise and respect hard work and honesty and reward it with loyalty, and I’ve been immensely grateful to be on the receiving end of that.”

Jane-Anne is also dedicated to offering opportunities to the next generation of physiotherapists and other health professionals. Not only does Grafton Physio + Sport offer a coveted graduate training program, it is a beacon of innovation and attention to detail in patient care.

“We don’t just provide care and services for patients,” she says. “We also provide an engaged and passionate environment for clinicians, physios, physiologists and musculoskeletal therapists who want the opportunity to hone their skills, learn new techniques and work in a practice where a commitment to learning, as well as doing our best by our patients, is key.”

And you can be sure all of them will be cheering on their illustrious colleague, Celia, come Gold Coast 2018.
