Lismore City Council acknowledges and values all the progress that community members and groups such as yourself have made towards making Lismore a more sustainable and safer place. In 2024, Lismore City Council will contribute to the effort by preparing a Climate Adaptation Strategy and a Disaster Adaptation Strategy. We are seeking your help to ensure the Strategies reflect community concern, risk, vulnerability, action and priorities.

You are invited to participate in a workshop where, together with other leaders in the community, we will brainstorm and record the climate and disaster risks, impacts and vulnerabilities as well as start to discuss adaptive solutions. The structure of the workshop is as follows:

• Introductory presentations from Jagun Alliance and NSW Adapt,
• Small group work centred around key themes relevant to Lismore’s communities / industries,
• Sharing, reflecting and close,
• Followed by lunch and networking.

The next workshop will be held on;

• Tuesday 31 October 9:00am to 12:30pm

The information you provide during the workshop will be used to inform the development of the Strategies. The intention of both Strategies is to reduce risk and strengthen communities.

The workshop is just one way in which Lismore City Council is gathering baseline community feedback that will help us get a good start on the Strategies. If you are unable to attend a stakeholder workshop but still want to provide feedback, please let us know.

In 2024, we will embark on drafting the Strategies and will incorporate additional ways for further community involvement as we progress.
